historia CRUZBER

CRUZBER
Manufacturer of roof racks and roof bars since 1963.

Background. Reviews of a family time.

In 1935 Antonio Cruz Luna was born. He grew up among iron, forges and other machinery that made up the workshop run by his father, Gregorio Cruz García.

He was always a restless young man, with great initiative that made him radically change the family business, which over time and together with his brother Luis, became a mechanical workshop.

1963. Foundation of the current company.

Antonio Cruz Luna establishes himself alone, creating his own company under the name “Construcciones Metálicas Antonio Cruz Luna”. Thus, it will give rise to the current company.

Later, with his last name (Cruz) and the first letters of his wife’s last name (Bermúdez) he built the name of the company CRUZBER and soon began to make his own roof racks for cars.

1960s. The consolidation of an idea.

With the support of aeronautical engineers, efforts are increasing to improve the manufacture of roof racks in electro-zinc plated steel and stamped aluminum for already emblematic vehicle models, among which the Seat 600, Renault Daulpine and Renault 4/4 stand out.

CRUZ begins to be used as an identifying mark on all products and the trademark is registered in Spain.

1970s. CRUZ roof racks.

Specializing in roof racks led the company to design and manufacture new solutions to cover different transportation needs and stop producing other product lines.

Several changes occur in the company’s corporate name until reaching the current CRUZBER, SAU.

At the end of the decade, participation in the most important international fairs in the automotive sector began.

1980s. Development and growth.

During this decade, expansions were made to modernize the facilities which, at the end of the eighties, reached 4,000 sqm2 of factory space. Likewise, we are committed to technological innovation with the incorporation of cutting and powder painting machinery – both a pioneering installation in Andalusia -. A more efficient and competitive production processes.

The corporate image of the company is completely redesigned.

1990s. The incorporation of R&D.

New production and marketing technologies are incorporated. New product categories are launched on the market where CRUZ was not present:

Bicycle carriers for both the roof and the rear of the vehicle; the CRUZ PS/PT ski rack; the top-selling CRUZ Series N roof rack; the CRUZ Optima range of roof bars; and the first CRUZ roof boxes.

In the middle of the decade, cable carriers were manufactured, although at the end of the decade the division was sold to Cablofil Ibérica and efforts were concentrated on roof racks.

2000s. First steps towards international expansion.

A new expansion grows the facilities to 7,000 sqm2 with innovative production and storage systems. CRUZ products begin to be exhibited at important trade fairs such as Automechanika in Frankfurt.

In the face of the great international leap, we are committed to external certifications of both the company and CRUZ products and the TÜV GS seal is obtained. The export department is created, and the CRUZ brand is registered in the European Union, South Africa, Costa Rica and Morocco. By the end of the decade, CRUZ will be present in more than 20 markets.

At the product level, the first CRUZ Safari 4x4 roof rack and the new line of CRUZ Ski-Rack ski carriers were launched.

2010s. Consolidation of international markets.

The CRUZ brand is present in more than 30 markets and covers five continents. Once again, it is essential to expand the headquarters to 12,000 sqm2, to increase production capacity through the installation of new machinery based on nanotechnology and more respectful with the environment.

The company begins to work under the ISO 9001:2015 certification and a large part of the CRUZ products successfully pass the Crash Tests in accordance with the ISO/PAS 11154:2006 standard.
